Herman F. Egberink

Herman Egberink studied veterinary medicine at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University, the Netherlands were he graduated in 1983.
In the same year he joined the Department of Virology, at this same faculty.

The first period as research assistant and lecturer, from 1990 onwards as assistant professor and from 1997 as associate professor.

His research activities focus on companion animal viruses, more specifically feline viruses.

In 1991 he finished his PhD entitled: "FIV infection: an animal model for AIDS".

His current research interest is in the field of pathogenesis, development of diagnostics, vaccine development and antiviral therapy especially for feline coronaviruses and FIV.

He is member of the editorial board of Veterinary Microbiology, the committee on preventive health care in companion animals of the Dutch association of Veterinary Medicine and member of the Dutch committee on the registration of veterinary medicinal products.
